The Trivia Hound

118. Virginia, March 26, 1607

Thanks DesiLinguist for help with #117!

After a three-month voyage aboard the Susan Constant, we finally reached Chesapeake Bay at about 4:00 am. Now they're looking for a suitable place to start building a fort. This man kept some of us entertained with his war stories--though to my thinking they grow more fanciful with each telling.

Captain John Smith. Who in real life was short, dark-haired, bearded, and spent about half the trip overseas in irons! Pocahontas, who in real life was a naked 12-year-old, was the second woman (girl) that Smith claimed saved his life. He had a story about being sold as a slave to a Turk and . . . well, nevermind. Suffice it to say "the tales grow taller on down the line." People who get their history from Disney are woefully misled.
