413. Berlin, 1923
Nora & Jim got #412!
The year 1923 began badly in the US, and it's ending badly in Germany. Thanks to war reparations and ill advised policies of the Reichsbank, post-war inflation has escalated beyond imagination. Cash is virtually worthless - it is cheaper to burn money for heat than to use it to buy firewood. The people are exceedingly desperate, and there seems to be no end in sight. |

Sadly, 1923 began with a week of shocking brutality and violence fueled by racism and rumor. This veteran of the Great War is standing up to the mobs and trying to save as many lives as he can, but the community will be virtually destroyed. | |

War's End
Finally, after four harrowing years and an entire generation lost, the Great War has finally concluded. French troops gather outside the palace at Versailles to await the signing of this historic peace, which some say will end war in Europe forever. Truly it is the dawn of a new era. (Not a film)Finally, while everyone participated in this section, I think it's safe to say no one here knew WWI movies like Jim! |
