The year 1923 began badly in the US, and it's ending badly in Germany. Thanks to war reparations and ill advised policies of the Reichsbank, post-war inflation has escalated beyond imagination. Cash is virtually worthless - it is cheaper to burn money for heat than to use it to buy firewood. The people are exceedingly desperate, and there seems to be no end in sight. |  |
