Most people would know Claude Rains from his portrayal of Captain Renault in Casablanca. Here I think he plays Nick (the Devil) in Angel on My Shoulder made in 1946.

That's abolutely right, Jim! He sent a gangster who had been killed back to Earth, but the gangster did more good than harm, and Nick's plan fell through.
