The Trivia Hound

686. Chicago, Oct. 1947

No guesses on #685?

Entertainment has found a new medium! Though televisions have been around for a while, only now in 1947 are they coming into wide use. This year saw the first broadcast of the World Series, first presidential address, and the first appearance of this, um, person! (#685 may be obscure but this one's not! No one over 35 has any excuse...)

No; Mr. Rogers is only 19 years old right now.

Yay! That's right, Roy! Originally entitled Junior Jamboree, Kukla, Fran & Ollie was both fun and historically significant: it would become NBC's FIRST nationally televised program in 1949, and they appeared in NBC's FIRST color broadcast in 1953!
