Matt Damon and Jude Law in Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley. Ripley is one of the most disturbing characters in fiction. He was also played by Dennis Hopper and John Malkovich.

I liked The American Friend made by the German director Wim Wenders which featured Dennis Hopper as Ripley and auteurs Nicholas Ray and Samuel Fuller in smaller roles.
