A few years ago this came on TV. Knowing how iconic it was, I sat down eagerly to watch it. And... after a while... I wandered away.

In my opinion this is a very flawed film, with no story and a too inevitable ending. It's really notable only for the first good Jack Nicholson performance. He'd made some B-film appearances, but he easily stole the show here.

I agree, and yet you see both Fonda and Hopper occasionally reprise their roles. Ex. Fonda playing the biker dad in Wild Hogs. So I guess at least some people are still "Fonda" the movie (sorry, couldn't resist!).

I live near Daytona, which has two big "biker" weeks a year. Several times Peter Fonda has been their Grand Marshall, because he really does like motorcycles.
